Stuttgart/Beijing, February 05, 2008 – One month before the opening of the new ‘Olympic’ Terminal 3 of Beijing Capital International Airport (BCIA), Business Media China (BMC) was able to close a big order with Samsung. The Korean electronics giant has booked one of the attractive car booth for at least one year starting in March 2008.
BMC sees a strong demand for the high-quality advertising sites inside the new ‘Olympic’ Terminal T3 (two car exhibition booths as well as a large number of premium light boxes), which the outdoor advertising company was awarded some months ago. Following Italian carmaker Ferrari some weeks ago Samsung demonstrates with the booking of an attractive car exhibition booth the importance of the terminal as a premium advertising platform in China. About 80 percent of the arriving passengers will cross the famous ‘Samsung hand holding a mobile phone’ (altitude >4m). The display of the mobile phone will show the actual medallists ranking during the Olympics.
Beijing Capital International Airport is the main international airport of China. In 2004, it even became the most frequented airport in Asia by aircraft movements. In 2006 BCIA was the second busiest airport in Asia and number 9 worldwide with more than 48 million travellers. In 2007 the total number of passengers surpassed these numbers already in November with almost 50 millions. The new Terminal 3 was designed by Norman Foster and opens in March. It will be the world’s biggest and most modern airport terminal.
The terminal 3 will be the main base for Air China and the whole Star Alliance including Lufthansa and the Oneworld Alliance (American Airlines, British Airways and others). It will be departure and arrival airport for several domestic Air China flights but namely for all international flights and become one of Asia’s most important hub for business travellers.
At the so-called ‘Olympic Terminal’ all international departures and arrivals for the Olympic summer games will be handled and all VIPs, the teams and most of the tourists will be welcomed there. More than 50 percent of the charter flights for the Olympics are expected to arrive in Beijing.
